The vaccine and its administration go on separate lines. CMS lists the administration code G0008 as "Administration of influenza virus vaccine," and says "Part B deductibles and coinsurance don't apply for flu vaccine products or their administration." Billing an office visit too is a separate question. Noridian (one Medicare contractor) says that if the visit was only for the shot, "an office visit cannot be billed." Check your own MAC.

The administration codes

CMS's Vaccine Pricing table (2026-2027 flu season) lists:

  • G0008: "Administration of influenza virus vaccine" (CMS)
  • M0201 (CMS's in-home flu vaccine administration code): "reported only once per individual home per date of service" (CMS)

The vaccine product itself is its own line, separate from these administration codes.

Deductibles and coinsurance

"Part B deductibles and coinsurance don't apply for flu vaccine products or their administration." (CMS, Vaccine Pricing)

Roster billing: one type of shot per roster bill

"Bill each type of shot on a separate roster bill. Don't combine shots on the same roster bill." (CMS, Roster Billing)

The office-visit question

Noridian (one Medicare contractor) says:

"If a physician sees a beneficiary for the sole purpose of administering one of these vaccines, an office visit cannot be billed." (Noridian, JE Part B)

That's one contractor's guidance. Check your own MAC.
